Come spend a day exploring Big Cypress National Preserve and Old Florida. Notable for being the first national preserve in the National Park System, Big Cypress consists of over 700,000 protected acres of the Big Cypress Swamp in southern Florida. This unique ecosystem is home to temperate and tropical species, including the elusive Ghost Orchid, and is a hotbed of biological diversity unlike any other in the United States.

You’ll be guided through the swamp by naturalists made famous in the book “The Orchid Thief.” Not only does Big Cypress National Preserve contain a mixture of tropical and temperate plant communities, it is also home many wild animals, including the elusive Florida panther. The fresh water of the Big Cypress Swamp is essential to the health of the neighboring Everglades and also supports the rich marine estuaries along Florida's Southwest Coast.

This day journey will also afford attendees the opportunity to see some of the weirdest offerings Old Florida has to offer, like the smallest post office in the United States and Skunk Ape Headquarters. Feast on a local-style lunch at Triad Seafood, on the water in Everglades City. Come prepared to experience a one-of-a-kind adventure and be sure to dress for the weather!
